Technology Revolt

It's interesting to see how AI is growing in 2024. How social media grew in the years prior. I was a part of MySpace (yes, I am old), and into Facebook. Today, I am not active on any social media except LinkedIn due to my career. I have not been on Facebook in many years. It just became... noise. I found myself looking and scrolling nonsense. It brought nothing to my life. No value.

I watch the younger generation on Twitter, X, TikTok, SnapChat, Instagram... and whatever else is out in the world. I don't know how any of it works and have zero interest in them. I am interested in things I can control. Subjects that educate me. Things I can make a difference with or in. Keeping up with what others are doing is not healthy. It makes you want things you really do not need. Be happy with what you do have, not what you do not. 'Keeping up with the Jones'. America has so much 'stuff' we don't need, we have storage units to keep our 'stuff' in because it doesn't belong in our homes. How crazy is that?

I now see VR headsets, living in mix-reality. This technology is here to stay, but it can get dangerous. We need to be connected to the real world. We need to communicate face to face. Enjoy life, food, nature and each others company.

I say all of this to say - I am hopeful that my kids generation will be the ones to revolt against technology. You cannot trust anything you see in technology - and they will be the ones to rise against it. Technology will become 'lame, not cool'. Why watch something that is fake or you don't know if it really happened. Explore the world. Be a hippy. Tree hugger. Live simple. No TV's. Go backwards to what life was like before cell phones. I am hopeful that this comes true.
